Introduction

The Manual Channel and PCI Configuration feature empowers network administrators to fine-tune radio parameters of Access Points (APs) during Create or Edit Site workflows. While these settings default to Auto, advanced users may choose to manually configure:

  • Center Frequency

  • Physical Cell Identity (PCI)

This configuration provides greater control over RF planning and interference management.

Users should plan frequency and PCI changes ahead of anticipated network conditions.

⚠️ Note: Available only on edges running firmware version 2411 or later.

Bandwidth Selector Aware

  1. Manual entries are done via dropdowns.

  2. Auto Reset headers let you revert all manual configurations back to Auto.

  3. A confirmation prompt appears before resetting.

Center Frequency Configuration

Selection Rules

  • 5G APs (Non-Band 48):

    • Center frequencies are selected based on the global band configuration and 5G channel bandwidth.

    • Available via dropdown influenced by the bandwidth selector.

  • Band 48:

    • Center frequency selection is limited by SAS-regulated spectrum availability.

    • Manual values may be overridden by SAS without UI notification.

  • 4G APs:

    • Two center frequencies configurable independently.

    • Dropdown values reflect the selected bandwidth (10 MHz or 20 MHz).

PCI Configuration

  1. 5G APs: Configure 1 PCI.

  2. 4G APs: Configure up to 2 PCIs independently.

  3. Flexible input: You may configure none, one, or all available PCI slots.

Auto Reset Controls

Located at the top of the Center Frequency and PCI sections.

  • Dropdown includes "Auto" option.

  • On selecting Auto:

    • All manually set values reset.

    • A confirmation prompt is triggered to avoid accidental resets.

Important!

SAS Channel Reallocation (Band 48 Only)

When operating on Band 48, SAS (Spectrum Access System) can dynamically reassign channels. In such cases:

  • A manually configured frequency may be overridden.

  • No UI notification is shown.

  • Auto mode handles SAS events seamlessly; manual configurations are subject to change.
