Access Points

  • Improvements to 5G Access Point software (AP20, AP21, AP22)

    • Enhanced scalability, supporting up to 96 active devices, ensuring seamless connectivity even in high-density environments.

  • Advanced Radio Parameter tuning via Orchestrator to enable finer optimization of network performance

    • For 4G, we've introduced support for Uplink Target CQI.

    • For 5G, adjustments include SR periodicity, maximum devices per TTI, uplink target CQI, and handover parameters.

Edge

  • Streamlined Local Edge Manager

    • Improved user experience with the updated health check page as the default landing page, featuring an added Access Point health table.

    • Introduced suggested corrective actions on the Health Check page if a health check test fails.

    • Running DHCP server on the management interface eliminates the need for configuring static IPs, enhancing ease of use.

    • Edge Manager web interface is accessible from the data interface as well and loads on HTTPS (port 443).

    • Reboot required only if there is a change in the network or hostname.

  • Edge nodes (version 2402 or higher) now automatically select DHCP client mode for requesting IP addresses for private cellular devices, simplifying setup and configuration.

Devices

  • Introducing ability to set up SIM Lock via the Device Management API for bulk operations - Read Documentation

  • Support for 3GPP Release 16 based end-devices, including iPhone 15 & Zebra MC94, expanding compatibility and connectivity options.

MicroSlicing

  • Guaranteed bit rate (GBR) Microslice throughput limit increased to 50 Mbps for both uplink and downlink for 5G network.

Day-N Operations, Usability

  • Enhanced Alerting System - Read Documentation

    • Alerts now support email as a new delivery channel, with multiple endpoints per channel and concurrent multi-channel support (email, push notifications, Slack via webhook), ensuring timely and efficient notification of critical events.

  • Expanded Access Point and Edge Properties

    • Additional Access Point and Edge properties are now reflected on the Orchestrator UI, including operating temperature and Ethernet properties such as interface type, duplex mode, and link speed for Access Points, and duplex mode and link speed for Edge nodes.

  • VRRP ID is now automatically populated with the last octet of the VRRP IP address in External IP Domain settings, reducing configuration complexity.

  • Additional granularity for time synchronization alerts with separation of PTP and GNSS states, enhancing network monitoring capabilities.

  • API calls now display Edge, Access Point, and Device uptime in seconds since epoch.

  • Edge Node serial number is now displayed on recurring POD crash alerts, aiding in troubleshooting.

Fixes

Access Points

  • Users will no longer receive a warning for Access Point outage if one or more radios have been intentionally disabled. This ensures that users are informed only about genuine outages, enhancing clarity and reducing unnecessary alerts.

  • Resolution of incorrect Access Point status display on the Orchestrator.

  • Unexpected GPS time sync issues addressed.

Devices

  • Disabling static IP address allocation for end-devices from external domains now takes effect as intended.

Known Issues

  • Ongoing optimizations for site availability threshold alerts.

What's New?

  • Flexibility to configure AP13 & AP13E to operate as indoor (Class A) or outdoor (Class B) Access Point on the Orchestrator

  • Supernetting - Host routes for IoT devices behind cellular gateway/router available on device details page on the Orchestrator

  • Predictive heat map displayed for indoor deployments on the site details page provides a general assessment of the expected radio frequency footprint and displays monitoring information like - channel, PCI, power allocation and the operational status of Access Points

  • Support for Device Experience analytics in 5G deployments

  • Support for multiple network policies per device group, to enable each device group to associate with multiple Edge Clusters

  • When an edge node is marked as a leader, the remaining edge nodes in the cluster are automatically marked as followers.

  • Device count is accurate when count exceeds 500, on the Orchestrator

  • ‘Device Attach’ and 'Handover' events now accurately represent each sequence as an individual event.

Known Issues

  • Access Point will not start transmission until the Antenna Configuration has been set for all Access Points on that Site

  • High network attach latency (~400ms) with Quanta USB dongle

  • If any site has AP 13, they need to be removed and added back to be recognized as Class A (Indoor)

  • To re-deploy an AP 13 Class B (Outdoor) as Class A (Indoor) or vice versa, the Access Point needs to be reassigned to a site

  • Deactivating a 5G UE using the Orchestrator interface does not take effect

  • Access Point (models - AP 12, AP 13, AP 13E) needs to be rebooted after an Ethernet speed/duplex modification to re-establish the network connection.

  • Edits to microslicing configuration affecting MBR uplink policy will not take effect until the device re-attaches to the network

  • Attach to the network may fail if a SIM is deactivated and activated within 30 seconds

  • Quanta Dongle may have high network attach latency (~400 ms)

Fixes

  • When using external IP domain mode and an external DHCP server with DHCP relay, DHCP lease renewal fails for an IP assigned to a VLAN interface or device

Known Issues

  • Attach latency for Quanta dongles is high - ~400ms. This is a device issue with sending a large capability message

  • Device Group removal from Microslice configuration takes effect only upon device re-attach

  • HA Cluster Configuration – Added ability to configure VRRP ID

    • Currently the default value is 1. This could lead to collisions if there are multiple systems using VRRP on the same network. To avoid this, it is now possible to configure a unique VRRP ID for the Edge cluster

Improvements

  • Enhancements to Edge Cluster table in Orchestrator - addition of HA status & cluster version

  • AP IP address is now available in the Orchestrator UI upon first contact to cloud. This should help with debugging issues with AP bring up post cloud contact

  • Introduced End User License Agreement (EUA) acceptance workflow after first login

Fixes

  • VM and Cloud instance of Edge node show the correct type in the UI. Previously it was showing as “Physical”.

  • HA Cluster cannot be disabled from Orchestrator. Please contact support if assistance is required to disable HA cluster
