Purpose

This test is intended to identify whether the device can reconnect to the Celona network when moving in and out of the network area without any manual intervention.

Test infrastructure

  • Celona network w/ (1) AP

  • Device under test

  • Celona Orchestrator

  • RF Shield box

Test characteristics

This test does not involve parameters or variables other than those described in the General Test Details and Characteristics article.

Recorded Data

In addition to the information described in the General Test Details and Characteristics article, the following information is captured:

  • Airplane mode on/off is required when a device moves from a no-coverage to a coverage zone

  • Device reboot required to reconnect

  • SIM reinsert is required to reconnect

  • Device modem details

  • Reconnect time for the device when it moves from a no-coverage zone to a coverage zone

Test 15.1 Operational state enable/disable and test reconnect for the device

Procedure

  1. Try connecting the device under test with the network

  2. Log in to the Celona Orchestrator

  3. Go to the AP details page

  4. Try toggling the operational state for the radio to disable it

  5. Make sure the radio goes down, and the device is deregistered from the network and in a no-service state

  6. Wait for 2-3 minutes

  7. Try toggling the operational state for the radio to enable it and observe the reconnect time

Test 15.2 Device moving in and out of the RF shield box

Procedure

  1. Try connecting the device under test with the network

  2. Try putting the device inside the RF shield box

  3. Make sure that the device is deregistered from the network and in a no-service state

  4. Wait for 2-3 minutes

  5. Move the device out of the RF shield box and observe the reconnect time

Test 15.3 Walk test with the device moving in and out of Celona network coverage

Procedure

  1. Try connecting the device under test with the network

  2. Walk out with the device to a location that has no Celona network coverage

  3. Make sure that the device is deregistered from the network and in a no-service state

  4. Wait for 2-3 minutes

  5. Walk into the Celona coverage zone and observe the reconnect time
