Edge IP address requirements - 2026

A
Written by Aparna Jaiswal

This article describes the IP interface and address requirements for Celona Edge clusters running EdgeOS 2026.1. With HA 2.0, Edge clusters operate in an active-active model and are supported in single-node, 2-node, and 3-node configurations.

Note: EdgeOS 2026.1 (Phase 1) supports 5G only. Interface references in this article use 5G naming (N2, N3, N6).

If Layer 2 External Domain, no N6 IP interface

If Layer 3 External Domain; one IP address for each Edge node

If Layer 3 External Domain; one VRRP IP address for Edge Cluster

Note

  • All IP addresses are allocated by default using DHCP

  • Refer to the Edge Cluster creation workflow to allocate static IP addresses

    • Static N2 (control plane) addressing, including per-node subnet mask, gateway, DNS, and NTP servers, is set in the Local Edge Manager UI

    • Static N3 (data plane) addressing is set in the Orchestrator UI on the Edge Cluster details page

    • Static N6 addressing, including the VRRP IP address and VRRP ID for Layer 3 External Domains, is set in the Orchestrator UI during External IP Domain creation

  • If using DHCP, it is highly recommended that IP addresses are reserved for all interfaces

    • Interface MAC addresses can be found in the Orchestrator for reference
